A 60-foot native oak tree came down across the roof on the north side of the Children’s Creative Learning Center in Armstrong Lodge during the high winds and storms this weekend. The tree caused substantial structural damage to the building.
Fortunately, this occured around 4:00 p.m. Saturday when the campus was closed. Nobody was in the building at the time of the damage, so there were no injuries.
The fallen tree was removed Sunday. Our staff is working to prevent further wind and water damage to the building.
Preschool, daycare and kindergarten classes that take place in Armstrong Lodge have concluded for the school year. These classes will not resume again until the fall semester. CCLC Director Judy Zuzack and her teachers and staff have relocated to a temporary office in the Student Succcess Center.
College officials will continue to assess the situation with the building. There is no estimate of the damage yet.
We will continue to keep you posted of further developments. Click here for more photos.
