As the history of Butler County Community College is eventually told, the fall of 2013 will forever be known as our semester of “ribbon cuttings” and “grand openings.”
On September 17, the College announced a partnership with Butler Armco Credit Union when it opened a fully-functional branch in our Student Success Center on main campus. The Armco Credit Union branch employs students from our Business Division and is open to staff, students and community members. The space is state-of-the-art with technology, private meeting space and serves as a natural compliment to our “one-stop-shop” approach.
On November 8, the College formally dedicated our BC3 @ Brockway location. About 90 individuals attended the ribbon cutting, including Senator Joe Scarnati, Senator Scott Hutchinson, PA Department of Education Secretary of Post Secondary Education Jill Hans, and Interim Executive Director of the PA Commission for Community Colleges Dr. Jim Linksz. BC3 @ Brockway blends a contemporary renovated facility with the appropriate technology, instructional and student “hang out” space. Fall enrollment and projected spring enrollment is slightly ahead of our original projections.
On November 11, Veterans Day, we proudly dedicated a new Veterans Lounge in the Student Success Center. Recognized as a “Military Friendly School” for 2014 by Victory Media, BC3 services over 200 veteran students. The BC3 Education Foundation, Inc. recently received a $5,000 donation from the Lyndora Legion for a “Veterans Helping Veterans Fund” and established the SPC Ross A. McGinnis “Pay A Good Deed Forward” Scholarship to assist our growing veteran population.
It’s events like these that make me so proud to be part of the BC3 team!
