(Butler, PA) Tours of the Amy Wise Children’s Creative Learning Center will begin May 10 by appointment for parents or guardians seeking to register their 3- to 5-year-olds this fall in the preschool at Butler County Community College.
The Amy Wise Children’s Creative Learning Center offers preschool and childcare to the community, BC3 students, faculty and staff during the college’s spring and fall semesters. BC3’s fall 2021 semester begins Aug. 23.
Childcare is available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and preschool, from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays through Fridays.
The state-licensed childcare center and preschool provides children with daily activities in language arts, math, science and social studies. Those activities also blend hands-on learning with social and emotional learning, said Gina Rajchel, interim director of the center.
“We teach children how to work as a group member and how to solve problems,” Rajchel said. “We prepare the 4- and 5-year-olds for kindergarten with the important skills they are going to need to learn, like writing letters and numbers and their name.”
The 3½-year-old, nature-based Amy Wise Children’s Creative Learning Center features hanging Plexiglas panels containing varying lengths of birch twigs; 8-foot tall, rough-hewn sliding pine barn doors; and triangular navy, gray and light-blue sails suspended from an 18-foot-high ceiling.
The Amy Wise Children’s Creative Learning Center will follow health and safety guidelines.
Tours can be scheduled between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays by contacting Rajchel at 724-287-8711 Ext. 8297 or at gina.rajchel@bc3.edu
