Thursday morning at 4:45 a.m., I was notified by Brian Opitz, Executive Director of Operations, that our Main Campus lost power. Later we learned that a downed-power line impacted 200 residents of Butler Township, including BC3. At 5:21 a.m., the College used its emergency texting to announce the Main Campus would open at 9:30 a.m. At the same time, emails were sent and our switchboard message shared the late start information. Media outlets were contacted shortly afterwards.
The best way to know about emergencies, delays or closings is to sign up for BC3 Alerts. BC3 Alerts will notify you, via up-to-the-minute text messages, of crucial information such as snow closings and delays, weather warnings, power failures, fire and gas leaks, and crime and security issues.
The College, including classes and activities, was up and running by the 9:30 a.m. start time.
A hectic start to an otherwise perfect fall day. Enjoy!
