It has already been a great 2015 for Butler County Community College!
On the national level, President Obama has highlighted community colleges with his American’s College Promise proposal. In the proposal, American citizens would have the opportunity to attend one of the nation’s nearly 1,200 community colleges tuition free.
On the state level, BC3 was part of an initiative involving Pennsylvania’s 14 community colleges. The Prior Learning Assessment will give non-traditional students as well as military veterans an opportunity to apply for life experience credits with a rigorous online portfolio.
And just this week, the College unveiled an exciting Degree Completion Partnerships. Soon after, our social media outlets buzzed with activity. A variety of newspapers and radio station also boasted about the innovative model.
The Degree Completion Partnerships will give students the opportunity to earn an associate’s degree (and even more credits) at BC3 and then complete the junior and senior years on our main campus or online. BC3 @ Lawrence Crossing and BC3 @ LindenPointe also have such programs.
Best yet, depending on the program, students can earn scholarships, benefit from discounted tuition, and of course, save on living and/or travel expenses to the senior institution. We estimate savings of $30,000-$70,000 depending on the institution.
