(Butler, PA) A Butler County Community College women’s basketball player who led the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III in rebounding in 2021-2022 and became an All-American is one of 19 BC3 student-athletes named to the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference spring sports all-academic team.
The Pioneers’ Aslyn Pry was also selected to the WPCC’s fall sports all-academic team.
To be eligible for WPCC fall and spring sports all-academic teams, student-athletes must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours. Those with grade-point averages between 3.0 and 3.49 attain honors on the all-academic teams, and those with GPAs from 3.5 to 4.0, high honors.
Pry, a Moniteau High School graduate, attained high honors in the spring and in the fall – when she played volleyball and women’s basketball at BC3.
Pry averaged 19.6 rebounds and was selected to the WPCC all-conference team after the Pioneers won their fifth conference championship in women’s basketball in February. Her scoring average of 23.2 points was the fourth-highest in the NJCAA Division III in 2021-2022.
Pry was selected as an NJCAA Division III All-American in March.
BC3 student-athletes Leah Barclay, Titus Fuller, Zoey Hillwig, Liam Kosior, Hailey Metzger and Austin Rodgers joined Pry this spring in being named to a second consecutive WPCC all-academic team.
Kosior attained high honors in the fall and in the spring as a member of BC3’s golf team. The Neshannock High School graduate in May was selected to the NJCAA Division III all-Region 20 team after the Pioneers won their fifth Region 20 title.
Fuller and Rodgers attained high honors in the fall and in the spring as members of BC3’s men’s basketball team. Fuller is a Knoch graduate and Rodgers, a Butler graduate.
Barclay and Hillwig attained high honors, and Metzger, honors, in the fall and in the spring as members of BC3’s women’s basketball team. Barclay is a graduate of Harvest Baptist and Hillwig, of Moniteau. Metzger, a Butler graduate, averaged 15.7 points and 5.7 rebounds for the Pioneers and was selected to the WPCC all-conference team in February.
Also named to the WPCC spring sports all-academic team were golfers Jack Mason, Freeport, high honors; and Collin Witouski, Eden Christian Academy, honors.
BC3 softball players named to the WPCC spring sports all-academic team with high honors were Brittney Friters, Karns City; Lauren Hesindez, Butler; Marissa Melius and Olivia Vissari, Knoch; Rebecca Scears, Grove City; and Taylor Schultz, Moniteau; and with honors, Amanda Dailey, Moniteau; Bailey Rickenbrode, Knoch; and Kristen Woolstrum, Cochranton.
Dailey, Hesindez, Rickenbrode, Vissari and Woolstrum were selected to the WPCC all-conference team in May. Vissari had the fifth-highest batting average in the NJCAA Division III at .590.
Taylor Yost, a Seneca Valley graduate and member of BC3’s women’s basketball team, received high honors.
