(Butler, PA) Butler County Community College’s most-recent All-Americans and 15 other BC3 student-athletes have been selected to the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference fall 2022 sports all-academic team.
To be eligible for WPCC fall and spring sports all-academic teams, student-athletes must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours. Those with grade-point averages between 3.5 to 4.0 attain high honors on the all-academic teams, and those with GPAs from 3.0 to 3.49, honors.
Morgan Jack and Aslyn Pry were chosen in December as National Junior College Athletic Association Division III All-Americans in volleyball and attained high honors on the WPCC fall 2022 sports all-academic team.
Other BC3 fall sports student-athletes who achieved high honors were golfer Liam Kosior; men’s basketball players Kevaughn Price, Austin Rodgers and Anthony Watson; women’s basketball players Zoey Hillwig, Brooke Manuel and Taylor Yost; and volleyball player Amber Maurer.
Pry is also a player on BC3’s women’s basketball team.
BC3 fall sports student-athletes who achieved honors were golfer Cory Voltz; men’s basketball player Cole Rodgers; women’s basketball players Emma Johns, Hailey Metzger, Megan Pennington and Sara Soltis; and volleyball player Abby Granato.
7 earn multiple all-academic honors
Hillwig, Kosior, Pry and Austin Rodgers have received high honors on WPCC sports all-academic teams three times since fall 2021, and Jack and Yost, two times. Metzger has received honors three times.
BC3’s golf team finished 12-0 in the fall and captured its eighth WPCC championship since 2013 and 12th overall.
The Pioneers’ volleyball team ended 19-4 in 2022 and was ranked No. 1 for the first time in program history. BC3 won an unprecedented seventh WPCC crown in a row and its 18th overall. The Pioneers also captured their fourth consecutive NJCAA Division III Region 20 championship.
The Pioneers’ men’s basketball team was 13-3 through Jan. 23 and is seeking the program’s seventh WPCC title and first since 2019.
BC3’s women’s basketball team was 14-3 through Jan. 23 and is seeking the program’s sixth WPCC crown since 2016.
BC3 student-athletes among NJCAA leaders
BC3 golfer Kosior is a graduate of Neshannock Senior High School and teammate Voltz, of Knoch.
Kosior shot a 76 and finished third in the season-ending WPCC golf championship tournament and Voltz tied for fifth with an 87. Kosior averaged a 73.8 and Voltz an 80 in being selections to the WPCC all-conference squad.
Jack was a setter on BC3’s volleyball team and Pry, a middle hitter.
Jack, a Knoch graduate, in 2022 set the BC3 volleyball program’s career assists record with 1,429 and finished third among players on 96 NJCAA Division III squads with 10.18 assists per set.
Pry, a Moniteau graduate, led Division III with a .432 hitting percentage and was 15th in kills per set at 3.86.
Jack was chosen as most valuable player of the 2022 NJCAA Division III Region 20 championship tournament and Pry was named to the 2022 Region 20 championship all-tournament squad. Each was selected in the fall to the all-Region 20 and WPCC all-conference teams.
Jack was also named as the Division III Region 20 player of the month in volleyball for September.
Granato, a Mohawk graduate; and Maurer, a Karns City graduate, were outside hitters on BC3’s volleyball team.
Price is a guard-forward on BC3’s men’s basketball team and graduate of Bishop Canevin. Austin Rodgers is a forward and Butler graduate; Watson is a guard and Bethel Park graduate; and Cole Rodgers is a forward and Knoch graduate.
Price ranks 10th in field goals made among players on 97 Division III men’s basketball teams with 124 and 16th in scoring average at 20.3.
Pry was chosen as the NJCAA Division III Region 20 player of the month in women’s basketball for January.
Pry, a forward, ranks first among players on 73 Division III women’s basketball teams with 264 rebounds, second with 65 blocked shots, fourth with 335 points and fifth in field goal percentage at 55.7.
Johns, a guard and Karns City graduate, ranks third with 56 3-pointers made. Metzger is a guard and Butler graduate.
