So that was my first interaction with a school in a while.\u201d<\/p><p>New students were introduced to one another by asking questions about their favorite food, their travel destinations or their high school alma mater during a personalized bingo.<\/p><p>\u201cThat was really welcoming,\u201d said Welch, a 2022 graduate of DuBois High. \u201cIt made you want to meet people. There were a lot of people there who were going to BC3 @ Brockway for different programs, and a lot of people for the same program. I feel like having just one thing in common from bingo sparked conversations.<\/p><p>\u201cThat actually made me want to take in-person classes because everyone everywhere was nice. It was a welcoming community.\u201d<\/p><p>Prospective students can explore <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bc3.edu\/campus\/brockway\/index.html\">BC3 @ Brockway<\/a>\u2019s welcoming community during open houses April 22 and April 29 at 1200 Wood St., Suite D, Brockway.<\/p><p>Open houses will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 They care about the students\u2019 learning. \t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-q-footer\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<cite class=\"elementor-blockquote__author\">Dr. Jill Martin Rend, BC3 @ Brockway director<\/cite>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/blockquote>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ad62777 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"ad62777\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d6cb9e9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d6cb9e9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3>\u201cYour class sizes are small\u201d at BC3 @ Brockway<\/h3><p>The April 22 open house will showcase BC3 @ Brockway\u2019s associate degree career program in <a href=\"https:\/\/bc3.edu\/programs-classes\/degrees-certificates\/health-care\/nursing.html\">Nursing, R.N.<\/a> An information session from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. will include a presentation about a<a href=\"https:\/\/news.bc3.edu\/penn-highlands-healthcare-bc3-brockway-forge-partnership\/\"> tuition assistance program<\/a> for Nursing, R.N., students sponsored by Penn Highlands Healthcare in BC3 @ Brockway\u2019s service area.<\/p><p>The April 29 open house will feature BC3 @ Brockway\u2019s additional associate degree career and transfer programs.<\/p><p>Prospective students can apply free during each open house and can RSVP to attend at <a href=\"https:\/\/apply.bc3.edu\/upcoming-events\/\">bc3.edu\/open-house\u00a0<\/a><\/p><p>Guests attending the open houses can also learn about BC3 @ Brockway\u2019s affordability, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bc3.edu\/services\/index.html\">support services<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bc3.edu\/paying\/financial-aid\/index.html\">financial aid options<\/a> and resources such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bc3.edu\/services\/tutoring\/index.html\">free tutoring<\/a>.<\/p><p>Welch expects to achieve an associate degree in <a href=\"https:\/\/bc3.edu\/programs-classes\/degrees-certificates\/liberal-arts\/psychology-degree.html\">psychology<\/a> from BC3 @ Brockway in May. Nearly 90 percent of the courses she has taken at BC3 @ Brockway have been in person and have included a maximum of 13 students, she said.<\/p><p>\u201cWhen you go to BC3 @ Brockway, your class sizes are small,\u201d Welch said. \u201cI\u2019m not afraid to ask questions at all. I feel that if I had a bigger class, I wouldn\u2019t ask anything.<\/p><p>\u201cA lot of the teachers go above and beyond with their students. They will sit there one-on-one and work with you. That makes me understand the material better because I am actually engaging in a conversation with them.\u201d<\/p><p>\u201cWe hear that a lot,\u201d said Dr. Jill Martin Rend, director of BC3 @ Brockway. \u201cWe do have good, quality faculty here. They care about the students. They care about the students\u2019 learning. Our faculty members are dedicated to teaching. They are not just here to get a paycheck.\u201d<\/p><h3>\u201cBC3 @ Brockway was the most affordable\u201d<\/h3><p>Welch works 25 hours per week in customer service and considered attending number of colleges and universities within an hour\u2019s drive of her home.<\/p><p>\u201cBC3 @ Brockway was the most affordable,\u201d she said. \u201cI have bills I have to pay monthly. I\u2019d rather be able to save the money I can for my everyday necessities.<\/p><p>\u201cI can take classes here instead of anywhere else for less money and still get the same education.\u201d\u00a0<\/p><p>Students attending BC3 @ Brockway this spring are paying $290 per credit in tuition and fees for an in-person course. They would pay at least $437.23 per credit in tuition and fees at a regional public four-year university or $582 at a regional state-related institution\u2019s branch campus this spring.<\/p><p>BC3\u2019s affordability, and financial aid and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bc3.edu\/paying\/financial-aid\/scholarships.html\">scholarships<\/a> allowed 75 percent of the college\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bc3.edu\/dubois-woman-33-earns-first-post-secondary-credential\/\">Class of 2023<\/a> to graduate debt-free.<\/p><p>BC3 students approved for federal and state grants will receive an average of $5,046 in the 2023-2024 academic year, according to Juli Louttit, the college\u2019s director of financial aid.<\/p><p>In addition to psychology, BC3 @ Brockway offers associate degree transfer programs in <a href=\"https:\/\/bc3.edu\/programs-classes\/degrees-certificates\/business-entrepreneurship\/business-administration.html\">business administration<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/bc3.edu\/programs-classes\/degrees-certificates\/education\/early-childhood-education.html\"> early childhood education (Pre K-4)<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/bc3.edu\/programs-classes\/degrees-certificates\/liberal-arts\/general-studies-degree.html\"> general studies<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/bc3.edu\/programs-classes\/degrees-certificates\/social-behavioral-sciences\/social-work.html\">social work<\/a>.
