I\u2019ve always been really good at talking people through hard situations.\u201d<\/p><p>The second-year <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bc3.edu\/programs-classes\/degrees-certificates\/health-care\/nursing.html\">Nursing, R.N.<\/a>, student on BC3\u2019s main campus plans to attend medical school to become a nurse anesthetist.<\/p><p>\u201cI\u2019d like to be one of those last people who someone sees before they go into surgery,\u201d Slomers said. \u201cI like to be a friendly face. Sometimes people get really nervous. I\u2019ve gone under for a couple of surgeries before and the nurses that I had were just so sweet. I feel it\u2019s really important, especially if someone doesn\u2019t have a family member to be there with them.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element That is why I chose to pursue this career.\u201d<\/p><p>Bevington has volunteered with Armstrong Community Theater and has worked at Lifesteps in Butler \u201chelping people with special needs,\u201d she said. \u201cThat made me feel confident that I was choosing a rewarding career. There is a stigma around mental health still. There are people who need help.
