460 to earn degrees or certificates in BC3’s Class of 2025

State auditor general keynote speaker at commencement; 93 percent to graduate debt-free

(Butler, PA) Timothy L. DeFoor, the state auditor general, will deliver the keynote address and Class of 2025 graduates Molly Milich and Lana Stewart will speak to an audience expected to exceed 1,200 during Butler County Community College’s 57th commencement May 14.

The ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. in the Field House on the college’s main campus in Butler Township.

BC3’s Class of 2025 is expected to have 460 graduates who earned associate degrees, certificates or workplace certificates from programs offered on its main campus, at BC3 @ Armstrong in Ford City, BC3 @ Brockway in Brockway, BC3 @ Cranberry in Cranberry Township, BC3 @ Lawrence Crossing in New Castle, BC3 @ LindenPointe in Hermitage or online.

Nearly 70 percent of graduates in BC3’s Class of 2025 are younger than 25, according to Becky Smith, the college’s director of records and registration.

Ninety-three percent of BC3’s Class of 2025 will graduate debt-free, according to Stella Smith, the college’s associate director of financial aid.

Pinning ceremonies will also be held for graduates of registered nursing programs instructed at BC3 @ Brockway or on BC3’s main campus. BC3 @ Brockway registered nursing graduates will be recognized at 5 p.m. May 12 at the Bellamauro Social Banquet Hall in Reynoldsville. Main campus registered nursing graduates will be acknowledged at 4:30 p.m. May 15 in the Succop Theater on main campus.

DeFoor is in his second term as state auditor general. He earned an associate degree from Harrisburg Area Community College, a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree from Harrisburg University of Science and Technology.

Milich, 20, of West Sunbury, will graduate debt-free from BC3 with associate degrees in English and history. Milich, who will deliver the student address at commencement, plans to transfer to Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania and pursue a bachelor’s degree in history toward her goal of becoming an attorney.

Stewart, 20, of Butler, will graduate debt-free from BC3 with an associate degree in psychology. Stewart, who will deliver the student alumni address at commencement, intends to transfer to Indiana University of Pennsylvania to seek a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She is undecided about her career goal.

Emma Johns, 20, of Butler, will graduate debt-free from BC3 with an associate degree in physical education-physical activity and fitness management. Johns, who will announce the presentation of tassels to the Class of 2025 at commencement, is employed at a fitness center.
