(Butler, PA) A conference champion in golf, an All-American in volleyball and a rebounding leader in women’s basketball are among 18 Butler County Community College student-athletes named to the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference fall sports all-academic team.
Golfer Troy Loughry, volleyball setter Morgan Jack, basketball forward Aslyn Pry and 15 other BC3 student-athletes had a grade-point average of at least 3.0 in the fall semester.
To be eligible for the WPCC fall and spring sports all-academic teams, student-athletes must carry a minimum of 12 credit hours. Those with grade-point averages between 3.0 and 3.49 attain honors, and those with GPAs from 3.5 to 4.0, high honors.
Loughry is a graduate of Grove City Area High School. The freshman Oct. 2 became BC3’s eighth WPCC individual golf champion since 2014 with a two-round 147 and 8-stroke victory in the fall season-ending tournament at The Links at Spring Church in Apollo.
Loughry attained honors on the WPCC team. He is also a guard on BC3 men’s basketball squad and has averaged 17.3 points through nine games as of Jan. 18. Loughry has also averaged 36.1 minutes, more than any other Pioneer who has played in more than one game.
Jack is a graduate of Knoch High. The freshman in November was selected as a National Junior College Athletic Association Division III All-American after the Pioneers finished sixth in the national championships in Rochester, Minn.
Jack led the Pioneers with 635 assists and attained high honors on the WPCC team.
Pry is a graduate of Moniteau and also attained high honors.
The freshman led the NJCAA Division III in rebounding average with 19.6 through 10 games and is second in scoring average with 22.5 through Jan. 18.
Pry also led BC3’s volleyball team with 27 blocks. The middle hitter was second in kills with 199 and was selected to the NJCAA Division III all-tournament team following the national championships in Minnesota.
Also receiving high honors were Leah Barclay and Zoey Hillwig, women’s basketball; Logan Barnhart and Lainey Tobolewski, volleyball; Sarah Fischer and Liam Kosior, golf; and Titus Fuller, Noah McLean and Austin Rodgers, men’s basketball.
Receiving honors were Hailey Metzger, women’s basketball; Kylee Bender, Riley Danner, Claire Kile and Josie Rupp, volleyball; and Chandler Miller, men’s basketball.
Hillwig, Metzger, Miller and Rodgers are graduates of Butler. Barclay is a graduate of Harvest Academy and Kile, of Harvest Baptist.
Bender, Danner and Fuller are graduates of Knoch, and Barnhart and McLean, graduates of Moniteau. Rupp is a graduate of Redbank Valley.
Kosior, a Neshannock graduate, finished second in the WPCC golf championships and Fischer, a Freeport graduate, won the WPCC women’s golf championship in an uncontested field.
Tobolewski, a graduate of Seneca Valley, led BC3’s volleyball squad with 472 digs.
Jack, Pry and Tobolewski in the fall were named to the WPCC all-conference team, to the NJCAA Division III Region 20 all-tournament squad, and to the Region 20 first team.
